The Abode is housed in a grade 2 listed building which is a former textile warehouse and not only has it got an interesting architectural facade many of the original features add to the interior outlay with its parquet floor and original metal columns incorporated in the design giving it a quirky aesthetic appeal. It is a fine old building giving a feeling of grandeur to the hotel as soon as you step inside its interesting foyer.
Rooms and facilities afforded to you
There is nothing too fancy about this wholesome hotel that offers fast efficient friendly service as nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff here. As the interior is modelled around an existing nineteenth century structure there are some interesting features especially in some of the non standard bedrooms. Some have curved window bays or cove seating. They certainly have the character and charm a modern square box designed hotel can’t offer. The dining is courtesy of the Abode Brassiere which has an all day menu for your convenience with a good selection of sea food, steak and pasta amongst other things. Breakfast is a top quality buffet with everything you would expect and a few little surprises such as the crab omelette on offer. In the evening the relaxing bar area often has live music to entertain you.
The location is perfect and allows easy walking access to much of the city
The location is a feature of the hotel as it is on the periphery of the Village being a hop step and jump away from the vibrancy of canal street. It is approximately five minutes’ walk from busses and tram services of Piccadilly garden and about the same walking distance from the entrance to Market street, which is the main shopping street that also gives access to the Arndale centre. In the opposite direction to the Village the Northern Quarter is easily accessible too. This is the new hip and cool trendy area.
